Why is she giving away so many great gifts? Sonia is celebrating the launch of her new online home-study program that has been modeled after her #1 bestselling book The Law of Attraction Plain and Simple. This course will really help people apply the teachings from the book — rather than just reading the book and going back to their old ways of doing things. 8 Words That Changed My Life [photo]

Hi there,

Below is some writing scribbled on the back of a business card. It may not mean much to you, but it meant everything to me. See, I received this from the publisher of a magazine after I turned in my very first freelance assignment.

success!

“‘Dear Elizabeth, Thanks for the great story!’ Tim.”

Those 8 words changed my life — it was the moment that I realized my dream was becoming my reality.

Doing strategy sessions with the Dreaming Big! participants this week has brought to mind my own dream of being a freelance writer and how much I wish I would have had the support and guidance these folks are going to receive.

Back then, I was totally out of my comfort zone, had no idea what I was doing from a practical standpoint, and had a lot of fears coming up that I didn’t really know how to handle.

With no training in journalism, I was so clueless about how publishing worked that I actually wrote the editor after I turned in my story asking him if he needed my byline. I didn’t know that “byline” just meant you get your name on the story. I thought it was that thing you sometimes see at the bottom of an article with a little description about the author. He must have been awfully confused! It doesn’t matter, of course, the important thing was that I was finally published — and received a nice check, too!

That scribbled note has been on my bulletin board for five years now. It is the symbol that I made my dream come true.

It’s already mid-January — time really flies! Pretty soon it will be February, then spring, and before you know it, the year will be gone, once again.

Where are you in making your dream a reality in 2010? I encourage you to consider these questions as you move forward:

1) How are you going to prevent things like procrastination and self-sabotage when that pull to go back to the familiar happens — and it will?

2) If you listened to the free teleseminar last week, how did you answer that one key question? It’s really important that you answer this question before you begin taking action toward whatever it is you want to do. (E-mail me back and let me know what you came up with!)

4) What is your support system? Without it, your dream is toast.

5) Do you understand how to get into the “vortex” so you can let go of the struggle and do a beautiful dance with the divine realm?

If you haven’t listened to last week’s teleseminar, you can get instant access here: http://www.yourquantumsuccesscoach.com/teleseminar-01-07-10

If you have ever experienced self-sabotage or procrastinated your own happiness, you can’t afford NOT to be in the Dreaming Big! Creating Reality program. It’s budget-friendly, you’ll receive unwavering support toward your dream and you’ll have the accountability you need all year long. Best of all, you’ll learn how to let go of the struggle and allow life to bring you what you need and desire with ease and grace.

In addition, I lead every call to guide you in quantum concepts and help you get into the vortex like I did (you’ll hear my vortex story when you listen to the teleseminar).

Life isn’t a dress rehearsal. It is a myth that “someday” it will be a better time to create the life you truly want. The truth is, when someday comes, you’ll just be in another “now”!

If you have any questions, just hit reply and let me know. There is still room in the program for you — grab your slot before it’s too late: http://www.yourquantumsuccesscoach.com/dreaming-big-2010

I can’t WAIT to hear about your dream!

Warmly,

Beth

A heartfelt message to my readers …

Hi there,

It’s hard to believe 2010 is almost here! I don’t know about you, but 2009 was certainly the strangest year of my life. :-)

Every aspect of my spirituality was tested this year and just when I thought I’d found the lesson, it was tested again. This year I experienced a great deal of turmoil as my higher self asked the rest of me to catch up. Yet, here I sit, on December 23, 2009, in awe at where I’ve come and what I know lies ahead.

One year ago this month, I launched the Internet portion of my business. I started from scratch, and let’s just say there was quite a learning curve.

My very first teleseminar was held on December 9, 2009. By leveraging MySpace, I had 50 people sign up. Looking back at the resources I had, that was quite a feat. (What a rapidly changing world we live in … just one year later, MySpace is considered the dinosaur of social media.)

In January, 120 people signed up for my second Ask The Quantum Coach call. How on earth did I attract all those people without an email list or the help of colleagues?

Then, two minutes into the call, the bridge line completely failed. I was kicked off the call, and so was just about everyone else. People who tried to dial in got busy signals. And some of them let me know what they thought of my failed bridge line. Ouch!

Although for a moment, I wondered, “Why me?” I embraced what had come my way and sent everyone a free copy of my audio book with a big fat apology. I hoped that they would stick with me as I had a lot to share with them in months to come.

Now, a year later, thanks to YOU:

* Thousands of people have opted in to my email list — a real honor.

* I have two online radio shows, which allow me to share with the world the ideas, concepts and advice of some very wise people.

* I held over a dozen free teleseminars and four tele-classes this year — and found a reliable bridge line service!

* My Quantum Power Sessions product launch in June could only be described as the biggest failure in the history of personal growth (kidding) — yet, on the heels of that “failure,” I had my biggest month ever. This solidified my belief that your history is not a predictor of your future, unless you perpetuate the same thoughts, actions and beliefs.

* As a journalist, I had the privilege of interviewing some amazing people this year, including Jennifer McLean, Marci Shimoff, Mariel Hemingway, Mike Robbins and Noah St. John. Through these interviews, I learned more than I did through all of the books I’ve ever read.

* A brilliant author, coach and performer, Cindy Ashton, came into my life, and together we helped almost 100 people shift their relationship with money through our Wealth Consciousness Boot Camp program.

* I’ve had the privilege of helping dozens of private coachees make huge strides by learning to live in harmony with the universe and shifting their thoughts and core beliefs – and I’m proud of each and every one of them.

I was blessed with the help and support of so many colleagues and other folks this year. They patiently shared their wisdom, gifts and techniques and with me, and generously informed people about what I do. Among those angels on earth are:

* Lydia Proschinger
* Michelle O’Connell
* Sandra Gardner
* Dawn Maree
* Auriela McCarthy
* Robin Hoch
* Cindy Ashton
* Pamela Grant-Sassman
* Amy Kolln
* Si Dawson
* Debbie Friedman
* Denise Cassino
* Natalie Kalmar
* Cathy Brennan
* Melanie Yost
* Christy Whitman
* Dr. Joe Rubino
* Sonia Ricotti
* Marci Shimoff
* Jen Blackert
* Larry Hochman
* Nancy Barry-Jansson
* Lee Pound, and
* Victoria Moran.

(And that’s just the short list — if I listed them all, you’d be reading this all day! You can see how blessed I am.)

Even if you and I haven’t yet emailed back and forth, talked on the phone or interacted online, I am well aware that it is because of YOU that I am here and have the privilege of doing work I enjoy. Thank you!

You may have heard I’m taking my coaching in a new direction in 2010. Well, actually, for me, it’s an old direction — back to the roots of my life purpose of inspiring people to live their dreams. After Christmas, I’ll send you more info about what I have planned — get ready for an exciting year! (For now, save this date on your calendar.)

Today I simply want to wish you a happy holiday season (if you’re Jewish, I’m a little late … my apologies).

I also want to tell you “thank you” from the bottom of my heart for being in my life, for blessing me with your business and for taking the time to read my emails and come on my calls. It is truly an honor to interact with you and be a part of your life.

Here are my wishes for you this holiday season and all year long. Take a moment and allow each wish to be received in your heart:

I wish you perfect health.

I wish you endless prosperity.

I wish you peace of mind.

I wish you strength of presence and the perspective that comes with awareness.

I wish you a full heart.

I wish you courage to be the real you.

I wish you safety and security.

I wish you ease of life.

Blessings to you,

Beth

(My friends call me Beth … so please do.)

What we can learn from Brittany Murphy

If you haven’t heard, yesterday actress Brittany Murphy died suddenly at age 32, apparently from natural causes.

We can learn a lot from this woman’s short life. Parents can learn a lot, too, about the messages they send to their children about their dreams.

As a teen, Brittany was clear what her dream was — to become a successful actress. When she told her mother she wanted to move to the hub of the acting world — Hollywood — her mother said, of all things, yes.

Brittany said of the exchange, “When I asked my mom to move to California, she sold everything and moved out here for me. I was really grateful to have grown up in an environment that was conducive to creating and didn’t stifle any of that. She always believed in me.”

You’ll hear similar stories by people like Hillary Swank and Celine Dion, whose entire family (and that’s a BIG family) said upon learning she wanted to be a singer, “How can we help Celine live her dream?”

I want you to take just a moment and think about that — to think about how Celine Dion’s life would have been different had her family said, “Yes, honey, but let’s be practical.” Really think about how that conversation altered the course of her entire life — and every person she has touched through sharing her gifts with the world.

How many times do people say, “I wish the best for you, but the chances that you’ll actually make it are pretty slim, you know?” Robin Williams’ father suggested he learn to weld “just in case.” (Good thing he didn’t listen as The Dead Poets Society just wouldn’t have been the same without him.)

How many of us even by age 32 have found the courage to launch our dreams — to take that first step — let alone make them come true? How many of us get started, only to fizzle out in a few days or weeks, going back to our old ho-hum routine? I did the start-and-stop routine for years before I took my leap and became a writer, singer and songwriter. When the pain of living the status quo outweighs the pain of the fear of regret, we finally have the motivation we need.

Let’s learn from Brittany Murphy’s shining example … at the end of our lives, whenever that day comes, may we have followed her example, living lives that are true to ourselves, so we, too, can have no regrets.

As you may have heard, I’m devoting my ENTIRE year in 2010 to helping 160 people launch their dreams and get from “here” to “there.” I’m calling it Dreaming Big!, and I’m launching it because I DID find the courage to launch my dream several years ago of becoming a freelance writer. In doing so, I learned a lot about what happens in life when you’re living a life that’s 100% you. (Hint: it’s a magical way to live.)

Save the date — on Thursday, January 7, hundreds of us are going to come together in a conference call and talk about how you can make your dream come true in 2010! Reserve your spot now!

PPS If you’re short on time and long on enthusiasm, you can skip the seminar and check out the Dreaming Big! program here.

Thank you!

As a way of saying THANK YOU to my readers, I’ve arranged for a very special sale with my colleague and friend Dr. Joe Rubino. I chose Dr. Joe because his work in the area of self-esteem is needed by so many right now.

Until midnight on December 21, 2009, I have arranged for you to get any of the life-changing Self-esteem System Packages by Dr. Joe Rubino for 50% OFF. Dr. Joe has never before made his work available for such a steep discount, so I feel honored to share this with you!

Dr. Joe’s work has personally impacted my life in a big way (see below for details), helping me identify self-worth issues and move past them for an amazing breakthrough some time ago. Recently he sent me a copy of The Self-Esteem Book: The Ultimate Guide to Boost the Most Underrated Ingredient for Success and Happiness in Life for review. I’m so impressed that I’m going to invite Dr. Joe on my radio show in 2010 to talk about it. It has already sold well over 103,000 copies in a very short time. In addition, it has been translated into 6 languages (and more are in the works) because of the extreme demand from all over the world.

Here’s where you can grab yours for 50% off:

www.theSelfEsteemSystem.com

****Make sure you use the coupon code 50percent upon checkout to receive your discount!****

How do you know if this program is right for you?

Well, you can ask yourself a few simple questions, as a start:

* When someone compliments you, how do you react? Do you deflect it or do you truly accept it?

* When you make a mistake, what goes through your mind? Is your self-talk forgiving, or do you beat yourself up?

* When you look in the mirror, do you notice your “flaws” or notice your beauty?

* Do you show those who love you why they should by giving too much, draining yourself of energy? Or do you believe you deserve to be loved just because you were born (you do!)?

These are just a few questions you can ask yourself to determine whether this program can benefit you.

My Story
When I examined the root of my self-worth issue through Dr. Joe’s program, I realized that my entire self-worth issue came down to one conversation years before. In that conversation, a well-meaning person told me they didn’t think I would ever be able to take care of myself financially. Silly me … I believed them! In doing Dr. Joe’s self-esteem work, I realized that the conversation that day was a turning point. My self-worth plummeted as I took on someone else’s belief, rather than staying in my own power and believing in myself. Over the next decade, my outer life reflected back to me my new belief, and if you know my story, you know things got a lot worse before I finally broke through.

How I wish I’d known Dr. Joe back then!

To sweeten the offer even further, Dr. Joe has also partnered with many leading experts in the personal development and business success arena to offer you dozens of complimentary gifts when you purchase any of the life-altering Self-Esteem System Packages.

Don’t delay … I know how it goes … you get sidetracked and move on to something else and lose the opportunity. If you know you could use higher self-esteem, do yourself the favor of taking two minutes right now to claim your program. You deserve to feel worthy of great things and good about yourself – and when you do, your outer life reflects this back to you. You are incredible person and I want you to realize that through and through!

Don’t forget to use the coupon code 50percent upon checkout to receive your discount!

P.S. This special 50% off opportunity ends at midnight on December 21st and is not valid on previous orders. If you’d like to get the life-changing self-esteem elevating program that has impacted hundreds of thousands of lives so far …and save 50%, then go here now: www.theSelfEsteemSystem.com

What is YOUR dream? + A recent revelation about mine …

A few weeks ago I had a revelation that kind of had me saying, “Duh!” to myself.

I’m going to share this with you so you can perhaps avoid going through a similar struggle. Many people say to me, “Your work has such meaning. That must be wonderful!”

In reality, I have been telling myself that it’s supposed to be wonderful for over a year! But something inside hasn’t felt quite right.

Three years ago, I developed a clear life purpose: To entertain people and inspire them to live their dreams. Within this purpose, I can do all kinds of things … write humor, fiction, screenplays, songs, sing, and coach people.

Last December, I left my freelance writing gig to take my coaching business full time. If only I had stopped and said, “How does this fit in with my life purpose; with who I AM?” I thought switching to coaching full time would fund my other passions and pursuits much more easily than the other way around. Meanwhile, I focused on helping people integrate quantum concepts day to day.

In the past year, I’ve had the privilege of coaching and teaching over 100 people. But all year, something felt off. It’s not that I’m not good at what I do; I’ve been told by clients and even coaches who’ve turned to me that they experienced profound changes and insights working with me. I’ve had colleagues tell me I’m one of the best coaches in North America. So when you’re told that, you keep going, right? It’s kind of like when you’re engaged to someone and everyone tells you how wonderful it must be to have such a great partner. The only problem is your intuitive voice is telling you he or she isn’t the one.

See, it’s not enough that work is purposeful or your partner is an amazing person. It has to be right for YOU – an extension of your being.

A few weeks ago, I went to a cocktail party and saw a friend of a friend. She asked me, “So, what writing have you been doing lately?” I felt irritated inside. Doesn’t she know I am a coach now? But as I let her question sink in, I realized (to my horror) that an entire year has gone by and I hadn’t written anything. Yet, that was the reason I took my coaching full time – so I could write! I also haven’t written a new song or had any other creative outlet. In fact, I haven’t engaged in any of my passions this entire time!

I thought, “Oh yeah! I’m a writer.” (That was my “Duh” moment.) I realized I miss that part of me. I miss loving what I do.

A few days later, I woke up with tremendous clarity about where to take my coaching business in 2010. I’m having a new Web site built and will be focusing on my true purpose … to inspire you to live your dreams!

The feeling inside after this revelation was SO different than the day before. It’s hard to explain, but when your divine will and your personal will are in sync, it just feels so fabulous. Kind of the absence of anything wrong, I guess. A calm, free feeling.

I marked off one day a week as creative time. Those days will be spent on writing or music projects for the sake of self-expression. (I have a great idea for another screenplay and can’t wait to get started!)

I also set some clear goals having to do with my coaching business and will be launching a new program in early January called Dreaming Big 2010. I can’t wait! (I’m actually in the first phase of the launch right now, focusing on direct sellers and network marketers. Soon I’ll be expanding the program to anyone with a dream and the will to make it come true!)

What is your dream? I mean, the thing that comes from deep within you, the thing that would bring up painful regret if you didn’t do it in this lifetime?

I’d love to hear what it is! Feel free to post a comment below sharing yours. Hey, life isn’t a dress rehearsal, and I’ve come to believe that anything is possible. Might as well dream big!

FREE teleseminar for network marketers/direct sellers

I’m in South Carolina again but wanted to get a quick announcement out to you.

If you’re in direct sales/network marketing or you know someone who is, you’re invited to join me Thursday, Dec. 3 for a *FREE* teleseminar!

(I’d really appreciate your help in getting the word out about this.)

Network marketing can be an incredibly tool to gain financial freedom and live your dreams. I have seen this model empower women to stay home with their children full time, couples to pay off enormous unsecured debts, and artists to spent the bulk of their time creating beauty in the world.

If you know someone who has a Pampered Chef, SendOutCards, Mary Kay, Lia Sophia or other direct selling/network marketing business, I hope you’ll share the link below with them. (Thanks.) ;-)

This is an invitation-only event and requires a quick RSVP here: http://www.yourquantumsuccesscoach.com/teleseminar-12-03-09

During the call, I’ll focus on:
· The three things every network marketer MUST do in December to set yourself up for success
· Five crucial questions you must ask yourself in the next four weeks if you’re going to soar in 2010
· The four states of success consciousness (if you don’t know what this is, get ready … it’s fascinating!)

Every person who signs up for this teleseminar will receive my free report, “Five Crucial Questions You Must Ask Yourself Right Now To Create Your Best Year Yet.” I highly recommend signing up, even if you can’t make it, just for the free report. For more information or to sign up, click here:

Hope to see (hear) you on the call!

Shouldn’t it be the other way around???

“In relationships, most of us are unable to tolerate harmony for very long periods of time.”

That’s what Katie Hendricks said during my radio show on Wednesday. It blew me away!

“Why would harmony be something we would tolerate?” I thought. Shouldn’t we enjoy it and seek it out and once we find it, want to stay in it?

Katie says we’re unable to tolerate harmony for extended periods because we’re so used to conflict. It’s almost like that’s where our set point is and we have to get back to conflict or we start feeling really uncomfortable. (For goodness sake, how screwed up is that?)

That really explains a lot, doesn’t it? About why couples cycle back into dysfunction or unhappiness or old habits that don’t work.

I was fortunate that as an interviewer I got to take a look at Gay and Katie’s program in depth, called The Relationship Solution. Since I have not met my life partner yet, I was so pleased to find that half the program is geared toward singles! I am doing the course right now, and it’s really going to help me be ready to have a lasting, healthy, loving relationship when the right person comes into my life. The Hendrickses have worked with hundreds of couples using these techniques and ideas, from couples on the brink of divorce to newlyweds who want to get started with a strong foundation and they say they’ve seen miracles take place.

Gay and Katie have been happily married for over 30 years. They have been quite transparent about the peaks and valleys their relationship has experienced, but as Katie said on the show, they really are happy.They’ve made conscious loving and conscious living a lifelong study.

You can learn more about their program here. I highly recommend it, whether you have committed to another person or haven’t take that step yet. Here is the link again. This is the brand new digital version of their product, so you can get instant access! http://tinyurl.com/relationshipsolution You can literally be starting toward lasting harmony in your current or future relationship today!

Please share this post with others you think might benefit, okay? Thanks!

This one question has the power to change everything …

The holidays bring up all sorts of, well, stuff, don’t they? The loss of a loved one or romantic relationship, the inadequacy we feel if we’re having financial problems, the pain of unresolved conflicts in our families — it’s like a pot that’s simmering all year but now we’re forced to stand at the stove while someone turns the heat up and it boils over.

Often, half the problem during the holidays is we have a general feeling of unease, but we don’t really know what it’s about. This technique is very simple and was the catalyst for my financial shift, but you can apply it to any area of unease in your life.

Here’s what I did: As I looked around my apartment, with my gas shut off and my refrigerator empty, with bill collectors calling 20 times a day, and bankruptcy looming in the darkness, I asked myself, “What is the truth of my life about this situation?” The answer that came up was, “The truth is, I have never been able to take care of myself financially as an adult for extended periods of time.” Yet, I had never really faced this.

It was true; I had been living on the edge (or beyond) since my late ’20s. The moment that I said it out loud, the greatest feeling of relief washed over me. I began to sob, but it wasn’t a bad sob; it was tears of relief seeing things as they were – and not needing me to be something different. I completely made peace with what was – including the possibility of bankruptcy. (As you may know, this never happened, because a huge shift occurred immediately and I attracted over $13,000 into my business in the next 4 weeks.)

Denying the truth of your life or needing yourself to be something else is actually a form of self-hatred. That’s the nuance I really want you to understand. When you deny that your relationships are a mess, or you deny that you are grieving, or you deny that your checking account has $50 in it and you have 10 gifts to buy by tomorrow, you are actually telling yourself, “I hate you, and you’re not good enough. This moment is not okay and neither are you.”

Wow. So ask yourself frequently, “What is the truth of my life in this situation?” Then, make peace with it. Allow it to BE.

When you see your relationships for what they are, when you see people for who they are and don’t need them to be any different to cause you to have a good time, when you see the reality of your finances, you open a portal to something new and to major shifts in an instant.

The holidays are your greatest opportunity for permanent shifts and transcending issues.Why? Because, unlike the rest of the year, when stuff triggers you out of the blue and you have to work hard to get back on track, you KNOW you will be triggered in the next six weeks. You KNOW you may feel inadequate, or feel the pain of your relationships inside, or feel sad, a sense of loss, lonely, or frustrated with people, be overscheduled or pressured to be perfect. That’s why if you’re prepared and ready with the tools you need (the exercise above is just one of them), you can have the most incredible six weeks – filled with authentic happiness, spiritual growth and love. When January 1 comes, you will be excited and ready to create new and fabulous things in your life, because you’ll see that you hold the power over your happiness and prosperity.

To access more tools visit, click here.

By the way, if you didn’t sign up for Jen Blackert’s New Wealth Experience series, last night was T. Harv Eker! This is the most amazing symposium of the year. Tonight is John DeMartini (master at the Law of Polarity) and still to come are Mark Victor Hansen, John Assaraf, Joe Vitale, Marci Shimoff and Lisa Nichols. This symposium is FREE to you. (Sign up today, though, because Harv’s interview is only up 24 hours and you won’t want to miss it.)

Next week, I have the privilege of interview Gay and Katie Hendricks on my radio show. We’re going to talk mostly about relationships, but also, we’re going to discuss the topic, “When the Law of Attraction backfires,” addressing why bad things happen to happy people who seemingly have cleared out their beliefs. Sign up for the RSS feed on my show page. You won’t want to miss this.

PS I have a huge announcement coming in the next 10 days for those in network marketing and direct sales. Stay tuned.

PPS Would you please hit the tweet button or Share/Save links below to let others know about this transformative exercise? Many thanks!

Well, at least my shoes were organized, right?

I just booked my ticket to South Carolina for Thanksgiving. The holiday season – from late November through New Year’s Day used to be one of my most stressful and painful times of year. At the height of my holiday dysfunction, I actually chose to clean out my closet Christmas Eve rather than spend it with family … ouch.

Of course, the problem wasn’t with the people in my life – who had a fine time sipping eggnog together while I organized my shoes. The problem was unresolved pain bubbling to the surface, and feelings of inadequacy because I couldn’t afford the gifts I truly wanted to buy for those I loved. It was also hard for me, too, as those around me tended to have high expectations of the holidays – and I felt tremendous pressure to make sure everything was perfect.

While your challenge might simply be feeling overscheduled or financially stressed, most people need a holiday from the holidays! (Keep reading … I have a super cool gift for you if you’re ready to give yourself the gift of a thriving holiday season.)

The stress you may feel during the holidays — that moment when someone triggers an unresolved issue or you realized you have way too much to do — is an incredible gift.

I’m telling you, there is no better time of year to become the king or queen of your universe!

So Cindy Ashton and I are teaming up to empower you to soar through the holidays with balance in your body, sanity in your mind and money left in your wallet with some free resources.

Just visit http://www.thequantumcoach.net/holiday.html.

Warmly,
Elizabeth

PS SO many people face challenges around the holidays. Please share this information with anyone in your life who will benefit. Thank you so much!

New Wealth Sure Ain’t “New Money”

There is a virtual extravaganza going on in November on the topic of New Wealth. I really want to make sure you know what’s going on and that if it resonates with you, you’re following your nudge to sign up and not sabotaging this incredible opportunity. (I know how easy it is to push something away that you know inside will be beneficial.)

If you’re not familiar with the term New Wealth, let me tell you what it’s NOT. It’s not the ego-driven materialism, do-anything-to-make-a-buck wealth of the 80s and 90s. New Wealth could not be more opposite of the stereotype of the New Money individual, who derives his or her self-esteem through accumulating prosperity and possessions.

This event is a meeting of some of the greatest minds in personal growth. And it’s FREE! The best part is it’s all about how you can create the life you truly want by being YOU. (If you don’t want to read to the bottom, check it out here.) By the way, there is nothing wrong with being wealthy! Go for it — just see it for what it is. Enjoy it, let it provide you with experiences and security. Let it help you give to others on a larger scale. And acquire it by being YOU, not by pretending you’re someone you’re not so you can have an experience you think will make you “happy.”

My friend Jen Blackert is running this event, and has spent months hand-picking speakers. What she has put together has really blown me away. (Way to go Jen, if you’re reading this!) She’s gathering people like John Assaraf, Marci Shimoff, T. Harv Eker, Janet Attwood, Guy Finley, Mariel Hemingway, and more.

Before the economy dipped, events like this were only available in person, and that meant paying an entry fee (usually in the thousands of dollars), plus your travel and accommodations expenses. All of these speakers would be packed into a two- or three-day event, and in order to experience it all, you would be going strong from 8 am to 11 pm and by the time it was over, your head would be spinning from information overload.

The great BLESSING of the economy is that it brought people the idea of doing online events of this caliber. This way, they can be provided to you free, and the speakers can be spread out over the course of several weeks so you can absorb these amazing teaching in bite-size portions.

If you haven’t already, I STRONGLY encourage you to register for this online event.
Have a great week!

My thoughts on the tragedy in Sedona

For those who don’t know, two weeks ago at James Ray’s Spiritual Warrior event, something went terribly wrong in a sweat lodge, and three people lost their lives. In addition, at least 15 people were taken to the hospital.

This is obviously a horrible tragedy for all those involved. Some people will have emotional scarring, others may experience lasting physical problems, three families are devastated, and James Ray lost three great friends. Life as he knew it is essentially over. He may be charged with criminal negligence, but even if he’s not, his reputation is ruined, and he will be in civil court for the next decade in numerous lawsuits.

I have been following this story from the first day, and some things come to mind. First of all, the people who signed up for the seminar did so in order to break through their mental and spiritual blocks and did so willingly. In order to even sign up for this seminar, they had to attend prior J. Ray seminars which prepared them for such an intense experience. They did not sign up unaware of what to expect. While this is a horrible tragedy, there must be some element of personal responsibility (I also believe this is true for James … if he was negligent or pressured people to continue when they were choosing to leave, he should absolutely take responsibility for that). This morning, a participant told the media that those who cried out stating they needed water, etc. were encouraged to stay or chided. If this happened, it makes me sad, because they were courageous enough to listen to their intuitive voice and were left in a state of confusion.

Second, I have been to one of his events. I found the content to be very good. I did get a great deal out of going. It was definitely a positive experience in my life.

Third, it appears that the construction of the actual lodge may have been a major part of the problem, which was handled (according to news reports) by the ranch where the event took place, not James Ray’s staff. He has done many sweat lodge events and no one died, so he would have no reason to think that people were in different physical conditions than at prior events as he chose his reactions. Very few facts have been released about what actually happened, and it is important to keep this in mind.

Regarding real or perceived pressure to stay inside the lodge under unbearable conditions, here are my concerns:

a) The sheer size of the group was a bad decision. The reason is that it is human nature to want to be a part of a group. After bonding with these people for several days, what was probably going through many of their minds was, “I feel sick. I want to leave. But what’s wrong with me? … no one else is leaving. I should keep pushing myself. Out of 50 people I’m the only one who feels it’s best to leave? Am I a wimp or am I really feeling this sick? I guess I’ll stay; maybe if someone else leaves, I will too.” This is just a natural part of being human. This would not happen in a group of 8 people.

b) Spiritual and personal growth leaders ALL need to be intensely careful and realize the influence they have on people.

c) People should not borrow any tradition’s ceremonies and rituals. These are sacred Native American traditions, and it is inappropriate to emulate them and especially on such a mass scale (normal sweat lodge ceremonies are 8-10 people from what I understand).

I do think the most destructive ego identity is that of the spiritual leader. I have stated this publicly many times before. Especially because the ego tricks you into thinking you’re spiritual, when in fact, over time, you gradually step into a position of inauthentic power. Every church leader who ever went bad started out as a person who simply wanted to help people spiritually.

I am very familiar with the concepts James teaches, most of which are rooted in quantum physics, and they are very good concepts and they work. However, I am appalled at hearing what the Spiritual Warrior week entailed – pushing you to your limits to foster a breakthrough. When you see a butterfly struggling to get out of the chrysalis, you may be tempted to pull it out. You think you are helping it, but in reality, nature has reasons for the struggle the butterfly must go through to emerge. If you help along what is a natural process, you can actually do great damage. You will grow, but life will bring you the chance to do that at just the right time.

I suspect (but only he knows) that the personal lesson for James is one of self-love and shedding the ego. Many years ago, he became a bodybuilder (the huge guys you see in the contests). He became very attached to how his body looked. Life brought him an experience to help him look inward: a motorcycle accident. Over the next several months, lying in a hospital bed, his muscles wasted away. What was left when the exterior image was gone? His authentic self.

To me, what has happened here is just another version of that only instead of a muscle-body, it was a success image and spiritual leader persona. He has paraphrased many times in his talks Carl Jung by saying, “Unresolved issues manifest externally as ‘fate.’” I hope one day he will come to love the gawky boy inside, since the image and flash are now gone, and that’s all that’s left. It will be tempting to cling to the ego. I hope he doesn’t and he just gets real with himself.

The biggest lesson for all of us in this tragedy, in my opinion, is this: Never, ever “follow” someone — that includes me. Think for yourself! Listen to your intuitive voice, and follow it, no matter what ANYONE else says. Live YOUR truth.

James is not an evil person. He has helped thousands of people create amazing lives through his work, and he is a charitable and socially responsible person. I do think it is important in life to look at a person’s intention. Intention matters. He did not have bad intentions, but at some point on his journey in helping people grow, he lost his way. I think underneath the persona and image, he is still just a gawky bespectacled boy from Oklahoma trying to make a difference in the world.

A bizarre, yet beautiful, recent experience

I just learned a few months ago there is a name for the bizarre world inside my body! I am what is called “energy sensitive.” I have even had energy healers tell me they have never heard of what I experience day to day.

Energy moves through my chakras, and it does yours, too, except I can actually feel it moving. Zip, zip, zip it goes. When something triggers me emotionally, the amount of energy I feel sitting in a chakra is almost overwhelming. For instance, when it moves to my throat chakra, I will often feel like I am choking, like there is a tight band wrapped around my throat. When it moves to my 6th chakra (the forehead), my ears will pop, and I will feel incredible pressure in my head. When it moves to my crown chakra, the top of my head will tingle.

What does all this mean? It means when I feel good and my body is clear of negative energy, I feel pure, euphoric, divine energy rushing through my body. It is not just the negative energy that is intense; so is the positive! It is the most amazing feeling! It’s my hope that someday, you will be able to feel this if you haven’t already – this appears to be the spirit in its unclouded, undisturbed form, although I don’t really know.

It also means that when I feel strong negative emotion stuck in my body, it can be so intense, it’s almost debilitating until I am able to clear it out.

Recently, I traveled to my home town in Iowa to visit family. I had a fascinating sacred energy-related experience while I was there. I’ve had this same experience only once before, and under completely different circumstances.

My sister took my nieces and me to Rieman Gardens at Iowa State University. It’s a beautiful place with about a dozen gardens and a botanical center. They also have a butterfly sanctuary. I had never been to a butterfly sanctuary but it sure sounded nice! We walked in, and it was so beautiful. Tropical plants and trees everywhere, with flying colored wings flitting about.

But I noticed something else almost immediately … the energy in the enclosure was so PURE. It was so cleansing, that it removed from my body by its presence any negative energy. It cleansed me simply by being in its presence. I looked around, and realized no one else was having this experience, and realized that it must be something to do with energy sensitivity. Or should I say, they might have been having the same experience, but weren’t perceiving it.

The beauty of this experience was so intense, I began to cry. My sister looked at me, perplexed. I noticed no one else was crying or seemed to be feeling anything different than usual.

Out of embarrassment, I suppose, as no one else seemed to having this experience, I put my attention off of what I was feeling and focused on the butterflies. But as I walked around to the other side, the feeling of well-being, of peace and calm, was so remarkable, I burst into tears again. I explained to my sister what was happening, and she just let me be me.

This same experience happened to me only once before. I went to an art exhibit here in Chicago of Buddhist statues by a Japanese artist. Many of them were plated in gold. They were so beautiful. As I walked through the exhibit, I noticed a bowl of water holding flower blossoms and a small statue of a boy with his arm raised toward the sky. I smelled the aroma of the flowers and after a couple of seconds standing near the sculpture, this same “clear” feeling as I had with the butterflies came through my body and I began to sob uncontrollably. By the way, these were tears of joy, not of sadness.

I was really regretting not having brought Kleenex! I walked on, but couldn’t stop the tears from coming. The feeling is really hard to explain. It was in my heart area, and it wasn’t a feeling of being “moved to tears” like art sometimes does to us, but of being “clear.” It turns out I had happened to go to the exhibit during the Feast of the Buddha’s Birth, and that the statue was a sacred figure of Siddhartha as a boy. The bowl was full of sweet tea, and we were to pour sweet tea over the statue in honor of his birthday, which I did. (A monk came over to me with a lot of Kleenex, and told me that the same thing happened to several other people as they stood in the presence of the statue.)

I told a friend about the butterfly sanctuary and the Buddha exhibit experiences, and he asked me, “What do you think the energy was?” I told him that I don’t think the energy was anything different than any other energy. I think what I experienced was the absence of something – the absence of what is not pure love and not divine. I have felt this absence on other occasions – for instance, after an energy healing by a master. But even on those occasions, I didn’t feel the sense of oneness or well-being that I had during these two experiences. Very similar feelings; perhaps the difference is simply that no one (me or a healer) was trying to produce a certain outcome. I simply walked into this sacred space filled with divine, pure energy of which we are all actually made.

Just wanted to share this experience with you, as it was fascinating and it helped me understand what our natural state is … divine joy … or perhaps, the absence of all that is not.

Warmly,
Elizabeth

When “all of a sudden” you look around, and everything’s changed.

Recently a friend and I watched a fabulous HBO film called Grey Gardens. With stunning performances by Drew Barrymore and Jessice Lange, this film fascinated us and blew us away. The movie chronicles the lives of Edith “Big Edie” Bouvier Beale and her daughter, “Little Edie” Bouvier Beale. Big Edie was the aunt of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

A documentary was filmed of these two in the 1970s, and this is included as a movie-within-a-movie in the updated version, which is much better, because it includes the backstory of these two eccentric people.

Their story is one of riches to rags. Having grown up a Bouvier — a prominent American family — Big Edie lived a life of endless prosperity. She married a successful attorney and they settled in at a mansion called Grey Gardens in The Hamptons, Long Island, near the water, in a neighborhood where only the super-rich can afford to live. A spendthrift, Big Edie soon blew through her husband’s earnings and eventually he left her. Little Edie wanted to be in show business but her mother manipulated her into giving up her dream and moving back to Grey Gardens to live with her so she wouldn’t be alone. She never married. These women, in their younger years, were stunningly beautiful, by the way, and Little Edie would have been considered quite a debutante.

Grey Gardens DVD” alt=”Grey Gardens Documentary” />

Family members, and even her husband, begged Big Edie to sell Grey Gardens, as it was her principal asset received in the divorce settlement. She refused, clinging to memories of years gone by and a now-impossible opulent lifestyle. She was evidently written out of the Bouvier fortune and received only a small trust when her father passed away. She seemed completely unable to take care of herself — in the most basic ways.

Fast forward 15 years and these two are living in a completely dilapidated mansion (which was later bought by Ben Bradlee, of the Washington Post, and his wife for only $220,000). You should have seen the footage from the original documentary! Overrun by cats and raccoons, with holes in the walls, roof and siding, and a jungle of an overrun garden, the property was eventually condemned, and when this info made the tabloids, Jackie Onassis stepped in and had the property cleaned and repaired.

With junk, garbage, cat poop, and newspapers piled to the ceiling, the Edies spent most of their day cooped up in one small disgusting, filthy room. The house was, literally, falling apart. Bradlee later said that even after the home was completely restored, it still smelled like cat pee when it rained.

What fascinated me most about seeing the original documentary was how oblivious these women were to their surroundings. They didn’t seem to notice the filth, the junk, the holes, the dirt, the smell. I wondered why, and realized it was because it had happened so gradually. Their “set point” for their surroundings changed only a tiny amount each day until one day they were living in squalor.

And then I thought about how if you look at this in the opposite way, that’s how moving up the world works, too. How one day you are living in meager surroundings, with an empty bank account, and then years later, after you’ve done the work on yourself, and little by little changed your habits, you realized you’re doing pretty well. You look around and smile as you realize you live in a nice house and it’s a rare day your checking account goes under $10,000, and you can easily afford the lifestyle you want.

For most people, growth, prosperity, permanent weight loss, or whatever they are working toward, isn’t a quantum leap. It’s the small choices every single day that add up and accumulate into a huge shift.

And one day, you wake up, and you realize you have created quite an amazing life for yourself.

By the way, if you want to see some images of Grey Gardens, here is a great blog post I found about it from Life magazine.

What to do when you trigger someone’s pain body — or yours is triggered

Yesterday someone triggered my “pain body,” or the energy field within me that’s a combination of my ego and my emotional memory. The term was coined by Eckhart Tolle. You’ll know when it’s triggered because you will have a severe emotional reaction and the situation itself won’t warrant such a strong response.

This doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, look out! I became very defensive, but other people may fly into a rage, fall apart emotionally, or become emotionally or physically violent (or withdraw completely). Everyone has a pain body. And you have no doubt encountered someone else’s pain body and wondered what they heck was going on. For instance, your spouse will lash out at you, withdraw, or burst into tears from what is seemingly an innocent remark.

Everyone gets triggered sometimes. When it happens, it’s because there is something deep inside from the past that needs to be healed. See it as a gift — after you calm down enough to reason with yourself!

I thought this was a good opportunity to address what to do from both people’s standpoints, as we’ve all been on both sides of the equation and will probably be again.

When you trigger someone’s pain body, NEVER:

1) Point it out to them.

2) Say things like, “Why are you freaking out?” and “You’re sure getting defensive, Bill. That’s your issue, not mine.”

3) Engage them in a discussion, thinking you can surely help them see they are overreacting.

4) Counsel them in the “right” way to feel.

What’s really important to realize about yourself in this situation is that the minute you point out their behavior, judge them, or try to discuss with them why they are overreacting, you are now in YOUR ego. Isn’t that ironic? Your authentic self — your spirit — has no need to be right, or to change or correct people’s feelings.

DO:

1) Ask yourself if you did a behavior that deep inside you knew would cause them to react this way or cause them pain because it’s caused it before. Be honest with yourself. While they own their reaction, you also own your part if you did something you knew would likely cause them pain.

2) Stay present. The most common thing that happens when you trigger someone’s pain body is that yours is immediately triggered back, as they are now in their ego and would like you to join them there.

3) Remain neutral, foregoing judgment.

4) Avoid conversations until they are “themselves” again.

5) Love them and have compassion for them — if they are triggered, it is because some part of them is hurting badly. Be gentle.

6) Avoid doing the thing again that triggers their pain, if this is possible.

What to do when YOUR pain body is triggered.

NEVER:
1) Engage in a discussion while you feel so disconnected from your spirit. (This may be very hard, as you won’t be rational.)

DO:
1) Try to recognize that you’re “not yourself.” This is often hard as you’re sort of lost in your mind. The moment you have this awareness, you’re half way there!

2) Try to get back into your deeper self by observing what’s going on within you and asking yourself, “What is really going on here? Why am I feeling this way?”

3) Get back on track as soon as you can.

4) Have a rational conversation with whoever triggered you and explain why you reacted so severely. Apologize if appropriate, and mean it.

I hope this helps you and may you be trigger-free! :-)

How do I feel happy and abundant NOW so I can attract what I want?

Hey all.

In my teleseminars last week, we talked in detail about how the law of attraction really works.

One the biggest things I talked about was this: Your outer life is just a reflection of the inner you.

How do I feel good when all this outer stuff is going on that doesn’t feel good?

In The Secret, Abraham-Hicks’ teachings and many others, they make a big point of feeling good to attract more of what you want. “You have to feel happy, and then you’ll attract more happiness. You have to feel abundant and then you can attract more abundance.”

The thing is, you can’t fake this feeling. Energy doesn’t buy into your fake feelings. You actually have to feel it, and in that respect, these teachings are right on the money, so to speak.

Find it first.

How do you do this? The answer is simple, but getting there isn’t so simple. That happiness you seek already exists inside you. You just have to access it. See, your natural state is happiness. It actually takes a great deal of energy and effort to be unhappy.

There are techniques you can learn to help you access this part of you, to “awaken” it, and that’s what I do with my clients. I mentor people to help them find inner happiness and keep it going.

Everything you need already exists within you.

Millions of people watched The Secret and their minds expanded instantaneously. All of a sudden, they realized that they could actually have that dream come true. But I almost think it was irresponsible, if not cruel, to dangle this carrot in front of your face but not really explain how to do it. In fact, I called my friend Lisa right after seeing The Secret and told her, “No one is going to understand how to do this.” And that is when my coaching practice was born.

The reason I know how to do it is because several years ago, I experienced a spiritual awakening myself. Then, I spent the next few years figuring out how to access that happiness inside me all the time. Because at first, it was just a glimpse. Then a few minutes, then a whole day, then within a few years, I was in that blissful state it was all the time.

It takes time to make that shift. It took me years, but you can experience it quicker, by applying the techniques I learned.

Once I figured out how to do it, I felt so excited to help others do it. I developed a program based on my own experience where I mentor people through this process. The great thing is, virtually all of my clients find in just a few weeks the happiness that it took me years to find. It’s much easier and quicker with someone guiding you.

Life before my transformation

You have to realize where I started before my awakening and shift. I was in a mild depression for about ten years, until I plummeted into major clinical depression. Since the age of 16, I had really never known anything besides internal struggle. I needed anti-depressants just to function semi-normally.

At my worst, I was unable to work for over a year, and for a few years after that, I could only handle jobs way beneath my abilities. My income dropped by almost 80%.

I then developed panic disorder. So essentially, I was either dead-feeling or feeling like I had my finger in a light socket emotionally. I had no in between. I plummeted into financial ruin.

Yet, just by learning a new way to live I am happy, have great relationships, attract what I need and want effortlessly, and have created multiple careers that are purposeful and abundant. I love my life!

Don’t take my word for it

Those on the call last Monday heard my client Natalie tell her personal experience about finding a tremendous sense of well-being just three weeks into my private 12-week program.

She experienced a shift in consciousness as her energy vibration spiked. She then began to effortlessly attract the success she had struggled to find for the past five years. New people, new circumstances. She actually called me in a state of disbelief asking, “Is this normal? Everything is happening to easily and quickly … my life has never been like this before.”

She is still experiencing it, in fact — she is an actress (I saw her on TV just the other day … a big breakthrough is happening with her career!) Yet, for five years, Natalie worked hard and then worked harder, with the success she wanted always just out of reach.

Another client sent me this email two weeks ago:

“Working with Elizabeth has been a truly life changing experience. I have spent years feeling depressed, hopeless and like I had no control over the things that were happening in my life. Going through the 12 week program gave me the tools and the support I needed to shift my mindsets and create the habits we all need to create the life I have always wanted.

I finally know that I have the power to create the life I want – and that is just what I am doing now! I highly recommend Elizabeth and her coaching program to anyone who is looking to start creating the life of their dreams.”

This client began effortlessly attracting what she wanted on the outside during her time with me, and also saw a major improvement in her intimate relationships. See, when you’re already happy, you extract and attract good behaviors from other people.

A new year, a fresh start

As you look ahead to the new year, I just want you to know that, should you decide to finally make this “your year,” I am here to help you get there.

The life you want doesn’t have to be just out of reach.

Living the life you truly want can be effortless. You don’t have to struggle anymore. You can learn to let your life take you where you want to go … I don’t care whether it’s finding your perfect partner, launching your dream, increasing your income, losing weight or just being sick and tired of being unhappy … the answer is to find the happiness FIRST, and I’d love to help you do it.

Let’s get real in 2009

One thing I am not going to do is make you promises of some overnight millionaire success or that without making any changes, you can sit on your couch and attract your prince charming.

Instead, what I offer is the real deal … a proven program for doing the backwork (which is insightful and fun, by the way!). Then, you can consistently experience the good end of the law of attraction in your life, and you can live the way I do … in joy and awe at what your life has become.

If you want to learn more about my transformation or what I do, feel free to visit my site.

Have a wonderful week!

My way is a little different, but it works!

Hey all,

With the new year almost upon us, I am feeling an intuitive nudge to re-group. Probably, you are, too — to reflect on the past year and decide what you want to create in your life in 2009.

Setting Goals – My Method

I don’t set goals the way most coaches instruct you to. You’ll have to find the way that works best for you, but this works best for me. I think it is because I have learned that going with the flow of my life hold tremendous power.

I set very few time frames with my goals. I set time frames with action steps, but not with my goals.

For instance, in attracting new clients, I often have the goal of having 20 coaching clients at any given time. The question is, how is this going to happen? How are these people going to find me, or me find them, at just the right time?

All I can do is take the most appropriate action at the time. So I set deadlines for those action steps. Often, I don’t determine my action steps until that morning. I find power in the now and in being relaxed and flexible. And when I let go of some of the how of things, I am leaving the door open to little miracles in my life taking place.

Force Negates

When I set a time frame on a big goal (vs. an action step) manifesting, though, I feel a shift in my feeling inside (and remember, it’s the feelings inside that attract the energy). A feeling of force comes inside me, and force negates.

Force pushes away what could easily be brought into your reality. To me, it’s sort of like saying to the divine realm, “I want 20 coaching clients and I want them NOW!” This does not put you in harmony with the law of gender … which says that everything has its own gestation period.

Of course, a key to the law of attraction is in letting go of the “how.” So what happens when I “demand” that my manifestation occur in a certain time frame is it NEVER does. It has never once worked for me.

Find Your Faith

It’s the belief that you can have what you want that attracts the circumstances to you. The deep faith. Demanding that something manifest by such and such date kills this feeling inside of me and as the date gets closer and closer, I am filled with more and more doubt – and the energy stops attaching to my dream.

On the other hand, if I let go of such a stringent time frame, but keep my attention on the end result I want, things flow much more smoothly and I experience those little law of attraction miracles. And I can continue that deep feeling of faith.

Creating an Action Plan

I create an action plan and put deadlines on those action steps. And I delegate the other things — those things where I can’t see how they will possibly happen — to my divine manager.

So as you look at your 2009, I encourage you to do three things:

1) Set a vision for the year. Write out your “future life” in a story. Do not put limits on your vision … just dream. Be very specific.

2) For each thing you want to happen, list out all the things that would have to happen for this to manifest in your life. Let’s say you have a goal of recording a demo music CD and having it picked up by a major label. What are the things that would have to happen for that to occur? There are probably over 50 things, right? From writing songs (which you might not even know how to do), to arranging them, to recording them (which costs money), to developing a fan base, to finding an agent, to getting a recording deal. You would write out every step of everything on that list.

Then, look at the list carefully. What things are within your control? And what things are items that you can’t imagine how they will come together?

Put “your” things on one list. Put the other items on a list entitled “the universe” or “God” or “the divine realm.” Recording songs might just be a series of action steps, but finding the money to do it might be something that you can’t imagine how it will happen. See? (Note: This method is similar to that taught by Abraham-Hicks. I want to give credit where credit is due!)

Let go of the things on the second list, and prioritize “your” list. Don’t worry about how those unimaginable things will happen … they can. They really can. The things on your list are just action steps, after all. That’s all they are. Any great thing ever accomplished was just a series of action steps.

Action!

Then, start at the top. Commit to doing three things per day to take you toward your goal. Or, working one hour a day on your dream, or ten minutes … whatever you can consistently achieve.

It’s much more effective to do a little every single day than to take your focus off it for two weeks and spend an entire weekend on it. Why? Because energy flows where attention goes. So you want your attention to be constantly on whatever your end result will be. Also, daily action creates a momentum that really works on your behalf.

Whatever you want your 2009 to be, you can do it! But you have to have a daily, weekly or monthly action plan, and most of all, you have to put that plan into ACTION every day!

Best wishes for creating your best year yet!

The Hush-Hush Universal Law

There is a universal law that is hardly ever talked about. It is the Law of Compensation.

Essentially, the Law of Compensation says that everything has a price. This is an essential concept for you to keep in mind relating to the Law of Attraction. You see, The Secret and some other LOA texts can be interpreted to mean that you can have, be or do anything you want in this life, and it comes to you like magic and you don’t have to pay for it.

While it IS true that when you have a deliberately created LOA experience, it feels truly magical, NOTHING is free. You may even attract a large sum of money with very little effort through the law of attraction. However, that does not mean it doesn’t come with a price.

The reason for this is related to another universal law called the Law of Polarity. It’s the yin and the yang. It’s that everything has the potential for good and bad, and the universe is perfectly balanced. (This is also why as human consciousness rises rapidly like it is now, we’re going to see the world become even more violent and brutal … as the good gets better, the bad will get worse … at least for awhile.)

In every moment and every experience, there are the seeds of something great, and the seeds of the bad, too. That’s really where human perception is key. It is the filter you experience life through that determines how you perceive that moment.

Nothing happens in one part of the world that doesn’t effect the world somewhere else, in however small a way. It’s because we are all one, operating from one energy field.

I want to talk about the Law of Compensation because I do not want you to be surprised nor disappointed when you discover it on your own …. when you become a deliberate creator of your reality, and then wonder why these “bad” things are happening to you.

Let me give you a few examples. First, let’s say you work with the Law of Attraction correctly, meaning your thoughts and beliefs are lined up, and you take massive action forward toward your dream, and over the course of the next ten years, you increase your income from $50,000 to $5,000,000 per year. That would be quite an accomplishment!

Now you have the financial freedom you’ve always wanted. You are secure. You can travel to Paris on a whim. Your children can go to the best schools. You have the life you always dreamed of.

Do you think that large sum of money you’re receiving has a price attached? Well, it does. For one thing, you may lose some of your middle class friends, who can’t handle the disparity in your incomes. You may have distant cousins come out of the woodwork asking for what they perceive they are entitled to: loans, gifts, etc. People may steal from you.

Did you know that both Jack Canfield and James Arthur Ray have been embezzled from? And they both have a firm grasp on the Law of Attraction. See, that was the price they paid for becoming rich.

People often sue wealthy people, as they take out their envy and resentments about rich people on them.

Let’s talk about the LOC as it relates to something a little more day-to-day. When you acquire a flat screen television at a store, you pay for it; let’s say $1600. That’s the price. If you find a really cheap one, say $200, you’d probably think, “This is too good to be true!”

Yes, it is. What do you think the real price will be for getting a $200 flat screen TV? Most likely, it will be poor quality. You may think you’re paying only $200, but you will continue to pay in inconvenience, because it will break, or the picture will be fuzzy. In less than a year, it may have gone to TV heaven, and you’ll have to buy a new one. Because high quality flat screen TVs don’t cost $200. Maybe it will be worth it to you. That is where individual choice comes in. One price may seem tolerable or even a bargain to one person, yet intolerable to another.

How about in relationships? Everything has a price there, too. Say you’re a single person. If you meet your perfect partner, your life will be enriched in so many ways (and if he or she is rich, even material wealth, right?). You might gain emotional security, a fun companion and a satisfying sex life, too.

But you will pay a price to have all that. You will have to give up some of your freedom, and you will have to compromise. You will have to take another person’s feelings into consideration. You may have to eat food you don’t like, or go to movies you don’t like, or any number of other things. But it’s worth it, because of what the person brings to your life.

If you don’t pay that price, chances are, whether it’s in one year, or 30 years, you’ll lose the joy of having that person around. That will be your price. Because who would want to be with someone where they bring joy and give of themselves, and the person takes and takes and takes?

If you absolutely adore chocolate, and you eat a big bar of it every day, you will have to pay a price. You will either be fat, or you will have to work out extra hard to maintain your figure.

If someone gives you your dream car for your birthday, you will have to buy gas, pay for maintenance, and pay for insurance. Even if they cover all of these things for you, you will eventually have to pay a price. Maybe when that person wants you to go on a trip to the backwoods of Alaska, and you couldn’t think of anything you’d rather not do more than that, you feel obligated to go. After all, they bought you a CAR. It’s a small price to pay, right? (Does that phrase sound familiar? “It’s a small price to pay …” See? You already knew about the Law of Compensation.)

For an actor, the price of massive success is total lack of privacy. Top Hollywood actors often feel they can’t trust anyone anymore. They have difficulty developing deep friendships and finding someone they can share their innermost thoughts with, worried it might end up in the tabloids.

The price you pay for ensuring you will have enough to retire on is not having everything you want right now.

The price you pay for tube of toothpaste is $1.89.

The price you pay for writing your book is time spent away from friends and family. Or a night out on the town. Or sleep.

Does this help you understand something as it relates to the Law of Attraction? Because The Secret definitely missed this. The Secret made it all sound like a fairytale.

If you’ve had a Law of Attraction experience, you know it feels magical. You deliberately brought something into your life. Wow, what power you discover about yourself! Just understand that it’s not a fairytale. Gratefully pay your price, knowing that you’re simply experiencing the wisdom of the universe, the divine balance we all live within.

Have a great day!

The Law of Attraction in this Economy

Let’s Talk About Money, Honey: Using the Law of Attraction to Create Abundance in a Shaky Economy

We’re all aware that we are in a down economic cycle. And if you have enough life experience, you probably know that the economy is cyclical (like everything in life). This isn’t the first economic down cycle I’ve experienced, and it surely won’t be the last.

But what do you do from a Law of Attraction standpoint with all the doomsday news going on around you? Here are some tips:

1) Keep informed if you’d like, but do not inundate yourself with information. If you hear it enough times, you will actually start to believe that no one will thrive in this economy — yet, that is simply not factually true.

2) Every time you see this doomsday evidence, correct the thought in your mind with something truthful and positive that’s the opposite of the news you’re hearing.

For instance, if you hear, “Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better,” choose a thought like, “There are billions of people in the world. I only need to attract 20 clients into my life at any given time who can afford my services. Easy!”

3) Remind yourself that your happiness does not come from external conditions. It comes from deep down inside of you. Even if you lose your job, home or some other external part of your life, you do NOT have to let it ruin your life. Embrace whatever comes your way and let your life take you where you want to go.

4) Find gratitude in every experience you have. Whether it’s a learning experience, the chance to really put your spiritual bliss to the test and prove your happiness comes from a deeper place, or just the chance to gain empathy for others, there is something to be grateful for in every experience we have.

5) Do not let economic news create doubt in your mind. Continue to put all of your attention on achieving your goals as if it is a given they will manifest. Does a downturn in the stock market mean you don’t get to live the life you dreamed of? Somebody’s script will be bought, somebody’s coaching practice will thrive, somebody’s products will sell. … might as well be yours! Assume it will be yours and keep going forward. Keep your attention on what you want and what you like.

6) Take daily steps to feel abundant. Here are some ideas: Do something nice for yourself, plan how you will invest that money when it arrives, test drive the car you want, take financially responsible action, develop a future budget that you will implement when your income increase to your target level.

Make plans as if it’s a given the money will arrive. And for goodness sake, don’t spend money you don’t have. You must take in more money than goes out … if you don’t do this, you cannot create wealth consciousness. Your sponsoring thought will continue to be worry.

7) If your budget falls short, look at ways of evening it up. There are only two ways to do this: cut back on spending, or bring in more money. There are lots of ways to bring in another income stream. You could start a direct selling business. Or you could get a second job. You could call your creditors and ask them to lower your interest rates. You can make sure your withholding is appropriate so you’re not overpaying Uncle Sam all year.

8) Through life’s greatest changes and transitions come life’s greatest opportunities. Embrace what comes your way, and let the universe take you where you want to go. A few years ago, I was laid off. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was given a little push to do what I’d always wanted – become a writer and find deeper meaning in my life. Out of that came a thriving freelance writing career, abundant book editing work, an audio book, a coaching practice and a budding additional career as a singer/songwriter. Wow! All from one layoff. I’m so grateful!

Economic conditions do not have to affect your mindset, beliefs or your personal happiness. Use these tips and you’ll continue to feel abundant — a key to attracting more abundance into your life.

About Elizabeth A. Grant

Prior to experiencing a spiritual awakening in 2002, Elizabeth A. Grant lived in an almost constant state of depression and anxiety. Within four years, she was living in an almost constant state of bliss. Almost immediately, though, she noticed that manifesting her external life became virtually effortless, later learning that her inner happiness had put her in perfect harmony with universal laws of quantum physics, such as the law of attraction. Through her experiences, she developed Quantum Approach, a method to help others awaken and find their true nature — one of happiness and bliss. Since then, she has helped clients find meaning in their lives and remain happy even amid seemingly chaotic external circumstances.

A firm believer in The Power of Thought and The Power of Now, Elizabeth is the author of Morning Commute, an audio book that helps listeners develop crucial mindsets, habits and beliefs to experience happiness from the inside out. How to get from point A to point B

On your inner guidance system

Esther Hicks, a great teacher of quantum concepts, uses a powerful analogy to explain the greatest power every single human being innately possesses. It’s more important than your IQ or what you learned in school or the knowledge you acquired from the books you’ve read. It’s your inner guidance system (let’s call it your IGS for short). Esther uses the analogy of a vehicle’s GPS — a brilliant metaphor.

Your inner guidance system is constantly telling you the best, least painful, safest, easiest and most rewarding path to your dream, your ideal job or your ideal mate. It is constantly giving you signals to steer you on the right path. Your inner guidance system speaks to you as that little voice in the back of your head, or of feelings you get in your body. It may be a feeling of unease, your skin crawling, or that voice in your mind saying, “Hmmm … that seemed like an odd thing for him to say.” It may also be a feeling of, “Wow, every time I’m with him or her I am filled with positive energy” or “I have a gut feeling this business deal is a good investment.”

It’s much like the GPS in a car. Let’s say I want to go from my home in Chicago to Boise, Idaho, a place I’ve never been. I tell the GPS where I want to go and start my journey. Just like my life, I don’t know the path between my starting point and my desired outcome. Most of it is completely unfamiliar to me but I have to trust that I will eventually arrive in Boise, right – by following the signs. I don’t worry about what will happen in 100 miles or even 1000 miles. I am only concerned with the 50 feet in front of me at the moment.

My GPS system says, “Go straight ahead 22 miles.” I’m sure it’s more like 40 miles, but I drive forward. Then, 22 miles down the road, the GPS says, “Take the next exit and turn right.” But I really think I know the best route. In fact, I am now sure I should continue all the way to the next town before turning.

Now, this system has a satellite pointed at me. Who do you think is right … me or the satellite?

99% of the time, the GPS is going to be right. In fact, if I say, “You’re crazy … I’m going to the next town,” and keep driving, the GPS system’s voice will start freaking out, and very clearly tell me, “Error! You should have exited the freeway and turned north! Proceed to the next exit and turn around immediately.”

The thing is, like a GPS, your inner guidance system always knows the right thing to do. In fact, I would lay a bet that every mess you’ve ever gotten yourself into was preceded by a warning sign (or maybe four or five) that you should go back and turn a different direction. Even once on your path, your IGS continues to give you signs that it’s the wrong one.

But it’s very hard to listen to your IGS when your ego gets involved. Your ego wants you to repeat the same route you’ve always taken, EVEN WHEN THAT ROUTE ENDED IN DISASTER. Your ego will adamantly state that it knows the quickest path, the correct path from point A to point B. In fact, your ego may even try to sabotage you from making it to your destination at all, in favor of a different destination, one that has all the traits of all of your prior destinations, places or people that didn’t make you happy. It will cloud your mind with unproductive or self-defeating thoughts — anything to keep you out of the present moment of your journey. And the present moment is all you actually have; everything else is an illusion.

Sometimes listening to your IGS is extremely difficult. It may mean hurting another person, saying no (which is very hard for most of us), or going in a direction that people ridicule you for taking. People may call you crazy. People may judge you. You may doubt yourself. And you may experience a lot of fear because you’re going into unknown territory. But your IGS is always right. It comes from way beyond your mind.

Think of a situation in your life that didn’t have the outcome you desired. Maybe a job, a relationship problem, a missed opportunity, whatever. Now, list out the warning signs your IGS gave you that this wasn’t the best path. It might have been a little voice in the back of your head. It might have been a clue. Maybe your spouse came home with rumpled hair one evening. Maybe your boyfriend had the smell of liquor on his breath in the middle of the day. Maybe you learned a friend has bad credit, but you went ahead and loaned them money anyway. Maybe you encountered several roadblocks when trying to buy a certain home, but you forced the situation, and it turned out to be a money pit. Maybe someone made a remark that just didn’t sit right, but you kept allowing them to be in your life and get closer to you. Maybe a hint came to you that you and your fiancé had different values, but you got married anyway.

There are a million maybes … sometimes it’s just a creepy feeling as someone approaches you and you have a feeling you should cross the street. Listening to your IGS can save your life! It’s the times in your life when you say, “Something told me not to proceed …”  But it’s also the times when you say, “Everything felt so great when I was with him … I don’t know why I didn’t act on it.”

Trusting your IGS takes practice. This is especially true if you are a people pleaser or you have a strong pattern of dysfunction. It’s hard to take the road less traveled sometimes, or to tell someone no. But ultimately, if your IGS is giving you signs that you’re on the wrong path, it’s for the best.

Here’s a little exercise to help you trust your IGS. Look back on those desired outcomes that didn’t end up the way you envisioned. What were the warning signs that you were on the wrong path? List them out. Now you have the benefit of hindsight and you can learn from it. Then, as you forge ahead toward your dream, realize the tremendous power of intuition you possess, and trust it to take you where you want to go.

The Power of Faith, or Why You Have to Believe You’ll Have It

Hey all,

 That may seem like a funny title coming from a woman who doesn’t belong to a church, huh? The Power of Faith? Well, just because I do not align myself with any one faith doesn’t mean that faith isn’t at the core of my life. Let me explain.

Whatever you religious or spiritual beliefs, the law of attraction is a spiritual concept. It is your faith that whatever you want to manifest will actually happen that causes it to happen. This belief may be subconscious or conscious. But ultimately, something will only happen to you or for you if you believe it will. That’s why I began praying in advance.

I was raised in a mainstream Protestant faith. Do you know when I was little, I actually thought God was an old man with a white beard who lived in the sky? Someone had shown me a painting of God once. He was really angry and was creating a thunderstorm underneath him. (Seriously!) It was hanging in our Sunday School. I now believe that God is actually energy. If you don’t agree with me, it should in no way detract from your reading further. The one thing every human being has, no matter how oppressed they are, is the right to have a personal relationship with a higher power (or to choose not to).

So anyway, perhaps I missed something, or perhaps that’s just how I learned to pray, but I used to pray from a place of lack. Like this: “Dear God, I really need a new job. I don’t think I can take it much longer. PLEASE God, please, bring me something new.” Today, this is how that same prayer would go for me: “THANK YOU for bringing me a job that is a better fit for me. One that I can use my talents better, where I enjoy the company of my coworkers and receive good direction. THANK you for my current job, which taught me that I want more out of life, and that I deserve better. I can’t wait to see what my next job will be. I know you’re taking care of the details. Thank you!” (BTW this is hypothetical … I happen to love my job!) Did you FEEL the difference between the first prayer and the second prayer? If you didn’t pay attention to the feeling, go back and read them again. I guarantee you that one feels desperate and the other feels calm and confident.

Now you may be asking, “How can you thank God for something you haven’t received yet? You’re still in your crappy job you don’t like!”

I need to make two points: 1) When I say the thank-yous, I really mean them. They are not empty words. I’m actually FEELING gratitude. That’s because I absolutely KNOW that I will be brought a new job. 2) God gives you anything you want, and I do mean anything. Universal energy, which is what I see God as being (if you see Him or Her as something else, great … use whatever words are right for you), doesn’t evaluate every request and see if it’s good for you or bad for you. But God will only bring you what you really want, because it’s the passion and belief behind your request that counts. And that means what’s sitting in your subconscious mind, too. Are your actions truly in line with what you really want? Are the words you choose? Are the thoughts you think? Are your daily habits in line with what you REALLY want? Are the feelings in your body reflective of the desire you claim you have?

If you want a new job, are you putting all of your thoughts on what it will be like when you have that new job? Are you searching online for openings? Are you networking? Or are you sitting around complaining, putting all of your thoughts on how miserable you are?

See, your thoughts, and especially the feelings they generate, are going out to God all the time as requests. Do you actually think He or She or It is sitting there with a checklist, analyzing every request? “Hmmm … is this good for Susan or bad for her?” Universal energy, or the divine, doesn’t distinguish between big, small, hard, easy, good or bad.

God is constantly speaking to you, every moment, telling you how to get what you want. I mean, it’s not very often, right, that we ask for more money and someone writes us a big check out of the blue. (This did happen to me recently, though.) Instead, we are given a feeling of what action is right to take. Or we are given an idea for something that will bring value to the world. Whether you act on those feelings and ideas is up to you. But the one acts first, wins. Leave the how up to God. You concentrate on the what. Put all of your attention on what you want and give none of your attention to what you don’t want.

Tomorrow a new year begins, so it’s an ideal time to forgive yourself and others for past mistakes and create a new vision of your life. As you clarify that vision, keep your attention on it, take action and BELIEVE wholeheartedly it can be yours, you CAN create it in your life. One last note: for many people, jumping from their current circumstances to something ten steps up is not believable. So many people find that setting a vision that’s one step up from their current circumstance works better. If you currently make $30,000 and it’s your dream to make $3 million, this may not be believable to you just yet. So set a more realistic vision that stretches you. Perhaps doubling your income in 2008 would be realistic, or even increasing it by 15%. Because if you don’t believe it can happen for you, you will block it from coming into your life. So choose goals that are a stretch, but believable for you. Then, once you’ve achieved that goal, set a new goal that stretches you. Because achieving that goal WILL expand your belief in what you can accomplish.

Follow your bliss,

Elizabeth Grant

On “The Secret”

I’ve had several people find me on the Internet who want to talk about working with me as a personal growth advisor. But having watched The Secret, they seem to see the law of attraction as a magic pill of sorts.

Let’s get something straight: Getting the law of attraction to work in your favor requires some backwork. I was doing that backwork for several years before I started attracting things on the caliber of Jack Canfield’s stories in The Secret. But almost as soon as I began to shift my perspective way back then, I began to attract things here and there. (And I had never heard of the law of attraction, by the way.)  A book served as my spiritual guide on that journey, as well as a mentor that I am still honored to have in my life (yet we never discussed the law of attraction either). The book was The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

I’ve talked about this before, but the most important thing for you to do right now to begin to attract more of what you want is to surrender to “what is” in your life. For most people, this is a radical change, as we spend most of our time trying to live by design. In fact, most people expend most of their energy trying to swim upstream — to force their life to unfold in a certain way, or to force someone else to act a certain way. This forcing of your life will be the greatest detriment to your happiness you could ever imagine. It will negate virtually everything you are desiring from entering your world.

The other thing I learned, over the course of several years, was to have absolute faith in yourself, your idea and the universe (or God, or universal energy, or whatever term you prefer). Faith is just another element of surrender. You have to let go entirely of “how” you will get to the end result you want.

And it goes without saying that daily meditation was a major component in my transformation.

Let’s get back to the first paragraph of this blog post. I really don’t understand why they included “health” as a segment in a law of attraction DVD. The law of attraction is about attracting external things based on your state of mind and your thoughts. The power of the mind to make you sick or perform self-healing is really another topic entirely, isn’t it? It’s been seven months since I watched The Secret for the first time, and I really find it more and more offensive that this was included as time goes on. I don’t doubt whatsoever that the mind can and does control the body, nor do I doubt that Morris Goodman and Cathy Goodman self-healed, but what does this have to do with the law of attraction?

I think I have mentioned this before, but The Secret also focused WAY to much on materialism. Did they think they would need the lure of money order to rope in the American audience? We are in a spiritual revolution. We want to live authentically, not chase BMWs. And the segment of our population that’s chasing BMWs isn’t the least bit interested in watching the DVD anyway! Do you think the George Bushes of the world are going to watch a hokey movie about new age/old wisdom principles? About quantum physics? Let me set you straight just in case you were roped in by all the talk about money. Chasing wealth will never make you happy, even if you acquire a billion dollars. You become truly wealthy (including monetary wealth) by living authentically. It’s the passion behind your actions that brings you abundance. It’s the happiness you feel, the raising of your vibrational level. Wealth is fine (as long as you don’t let it define you, or become attached to it). Enjoy the finer things in life! Drive that BMW! Just make sure that when you do, you’re not feeding your ego. Then you have defeated the purpose.

As I said, the law of attraction isn’t a magic pill. And if you’re approaching your life the way most people do, you can expect it to take 6-12 months to completely change the way you think and live, which is the only way to begin to attract whatever you desire. I’m talking if you have the proper guidance/support. Once you do, your life really will become magical. But unlearning your bad habits will take great conviction and a moment-to-moment awaresness. The great thing is that in that time, you will begin to attract things here and there. It took me about four years to make my transformation, but even during that transitional time, I was already attracting things — obvious, big things. The way I would describe it is this: It was clear to me within a very short period of time that my life started working for me, not against me.

The wonderful thing about the work I’m doing is getting to see my clients speed up that transformation process exponentially. It’s a lot easier when you have someone teaching you the backwork, and looking at your life from the outside in, from an unbiased perspective.

Follow your bliss!
